What the AI text cleaner removes
Text copied out of an AI chat often carries formatting that looks fine on screen but causes trouble once it lands in a document, a CMS, a spreadsheet or a code editor. The cleaner handles the usual culprits:
Invisible characters
Zero-width spaces, word joiners, byte order marks, direction marks and soft hyphens. You cannot see them, but they break search, sorting and string matching.
Unusual spaces
Non-breaking spaces and other special spaces that stop lines from wrapping properly or make two words look joined to a script.
Curly quotes

How to clean AI-generated text

Why pasted AI text looks wrong
When you copy from a web chat, the browser brings along rich-text formatting, not just the words. Depending on the app you paste into, that can show up as strange spacing, stray symbols, or characters you cannot see at all. Common effects:
- Search and replace does not find a word that is plainly on the screen.
- A line breaks in the wrong place, or two words stick together.
- A code snippet or JSON file fails because of curly quotes.
- A character count in a form is higher than what you can see.

They are real characters with no visible shape, such as the zero-width space (U+200B), the word joiner (U+2060) and the byte order mark (U+FEFF). They take up no width on screen but still count as characters in software.
Will it change my line breaks and paragraphs?
No. Paragraphs stay as they are. By default only runs of three or more line breaks are reduced to one blank line, and you can switch that off.
Can I use it for code, JSON or CSV?
Yes, it is handy for removing curly quotes and invisible characters from snippets. Leave Markdown stripping off when your text is code, because that option removes backticks and asterisks.
Does it work for text from any AI tool?
Yes. It works on any text you paste, whether it came from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or a person.
Does it keep emoji that use joiners?
Yes. When a zero-width joiner holds an emoji sequence together, such as a family or profession emoji, it is kept so the emoji does not fall apart. Joiners in ordinary text are removed.
Does it make AI text pass AI detectors?
No. Detectors judge how text is written, not whether it contains hidden characters. This tool only cleans formatting and does not rewrite anything, so it should not be used to misrepresent who wrote a text.
